With over 20 years of international and domestic hospitality experience, James leads the team at Mangapapa Hotel with passion and dedication. Beyond the estate, he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, exploring new cultures through local food and wine, and taking advantage of Hawke’s Bay’s cycling trails, gardening, and reading.

Growing up in Wellington; Leyton’s culinary journey began at the infamous ‘Paris Restaurant’. With a strong family connection to the Hawke’s Bay, he returned after travels abroad. His menu designs are guided by a deep respect for the exceptional producers of Hawke’s Bay.
Showcasing seasonal hidden gems to create unique dining experiences for every guest, every time. Whenever possible, Chef Leyton loves to step out of the kitchen after (or during) dinner service to meet guests—giving you a firsthand glimpse into the creativity and heart behind your meal.

A valued member of the Mangapapa family since 2024, Guada leads our housekeeping team with an extraordinary eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to excellence. From knowing the unique layout and fine nuances of every guest room to ensuring every space is immaculate, Guada and her team bring a subtle “wow” factor to the estate every day.
